My Groovy Dad.

September 27th, 2009

My dad is an artist himself, inspired me in many ways. He’s the reason why I love drawing – and my love for halloween.

HELLO MAUREEN HERE GA

HELLO THIS IS YOUR MOTHER. SMILE. GOOD MORNING TO YOU AND I HOPE YOU HAD A GOOD SLEEP SMILE OK REASON WHY I WANTED TO CALL YOU BECAUSE I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT TODAY IS YOUR FATHER’S BIRTHDAY… SMILE. GA

Remember the TTY days? No, better – remember when there weren’t any “smiley face” days? Instead of that, we used the word, “SMILE” often – especially during our TTY conversations. I found this old comic strip about our “SMILE” days…before the “smiley faces” were born. I remember how annoying it was for me…. Was it for you too?

And no, I never had my mom call me to remind me that it was my dad’s birthday.

This Made it Easy.

It’s officially over. My summer ended last night. This morning I woke up by an alarm clock and it was so weird. My husband said I looked like I was waking up at 3 o’clock in the morning. He wasn’t sure if he should laugh at me or feel sorry for me.

Today at work – yes, I made it to work if you must know. It wasn’t that hard – until I was sitting in a full theater room of co-workers, listening to the annual welcome report & presentations. Trying to stay awake – one little soft beep from my iphone. I tried to not take a peek but you can’t help it when you’re sitting there from 8am to 11am. I peeked and this was what I got from my sister. It was about a book on teaching your baby sign language. The best of all – my niece was on the cover. I don’t need to tell you which one – just find the most beautiful blue eyed girl signing “aunt”. I like to think that she was signing about her favorite aunt — me.

After getting that email from my sister with this kind of news – everything felt so easy at work today. Yeah, I was very cheerful. Some people must have wondered if I was crazy enough to be excited to be back to work again.
